WHY GATHERING OF TRIBES
Humanity is in the depth of a polycrisis, on the verge of a great transformation. Where do we want this transformation to take us? The tribes - companies, communities, villages, DAOs - of the regenerative ecosystem are building a new society, a new relationship to the Earth, how do we support their growth and scale their impact?
The purpose of the Gathering of Tribes is to strengthen the regenerative ecosystem, its tribes and the connections between them by creating a time to gather in nature, celebrate, building a culture of meaningful dialogue, mutual learning, peer support and
connecting for action.

what is a tribe?
The Gathering of Tribes brings together regenerative companies, for profits, political parties, non-for profits, associations, cooperatives, online and physical-based communities, villages, DAOs.
We do not decide what is a “tribe”: you do. Any group whose members choose to identify with is welcome at the gathering.
The Gathering of Tribes is an invitation to re-examine our sense of identity, to ask the question “What tribe(s) do I identify with and why?”
What is a camp?
A camp is a tribe’s home during the gathering. A place to be together; to receive guests, to host activities & events, a place to sleep and eat together.
A camp can be as simple as a circle of tents or it can be as much as a luxury experience with glamping, lounges, activities tent, stage, art installations and even catered gourmet meals.
Each camp is lead by a tribe, which decides the camp’s ticket price and invites into it the tribes they want to join them.
WHY BUILD A CAMP?
Invite your partners and collaborators to participate and contribute to the regenerative movement.

Activities can be public, or they can be limited to your camp or tribe, by invitation, or any other invitation you want to experiment with.

A CO-CREATED EVENT
Inspired by ancient tribal gatherings, Burning Man, Web Summit and web3 conferences. The Gathering of Tribes is a 5-day unconference, a regenerative summit, an open space for play & co-creation, an invitation to connect for action.
Like un-conferences and Burning Man, The Gathering does not limit creativity through a centralised top-down program, instead every camp produces the experiences and activities they want to share.
Camp incubator
We understand for those who have not participated in a co-created event this is new and can feel challenging. We are creating a peer camp incubator to support camp builders in camp planning and program design.
ORGANISATION
The Gathering is co-created by the Camps, the Gathering Of Tribes Team and Partners.
The Gathering Team organises everything around the space and opening and closing ceremonies, Tribes come together to build Camps which create the gathering program.

THE APP Of the Gathering
The co-created real-time gathering of tribes program is published by camps through the Pulse App - the gathering’s official app which enables real-time view of the co-created schedule.
The app invites all participants to spontaneously publish meet-ups.
The app enables announcing of promises/agreements between people and between tribes, supporting the gathering’s culture of connection for action.

Why gather in nature?
Rethinking our relationship to the biosphere is at the heart of regeneration so it feels plainly right to host the gathering outdoors. There also many practical reasons why the outdoors is best suited to the kind of summit we are creating.
The landscape is full of open spaces inviting spontaneous interaction. Not limited to rooms and lines of buildings connection can flow. It is easy to start or join a spontaneous circle.
In nature we feel connected to our roots we are calmer and more creative, it is only from this mindspace that the regenerative culture flows.
We invite nature as a co-host of the gathering, ask it to inspire, guide and regenerate us.

The FIRST Gathering
At the first gathering in September 2022, 250 representatives of the regenerative movement gathered in south Portugal for five days. The Gathering created many connections, learnings and energy to meet again in 2024!

Gathering Of Tribes 2022 by The Weave

The Gathering of Tribes 2024 will take place in a a private 22 acre-forest estate close to Ponte Lima, 40min north from Porto airport, offering easy access and an immersive experience into nature.
Will be available on-site: Wi-Fi, parking, community kitchens, showers and bathrooms, access to drinking water, electricity, indoors spaces, campsite, glamping (at extra cost), a lake to swim in, a forest to walk through and much to explore.
THE COUNCIL OF THE GATHERING
The Council is the decision making and conflict exploration body of the Gathering Of Tribes 2024. The council creates a space from where governance can emerge to enable the gathering
to fulfill its purpose, grow its culture, and allow individuals, tribes and camps to co-live in harmony during the days of the Gathering.
The Council of the Gathering consists of 1 representative from each Camp.
